XVI Feria ´Hecho en la Alpujarra´ 2011 in Orgiva

From the 21st to the 24th of April, the trade fair ´Made in the Alpujarra´ is organized for the sixteenth time in Órgiva. This Feria del Turismo, Artesanía y Alimentación ´Hecho en la Alpujarra´ 2011, is a an exhibitition of tourism, crafts and local products that can be visited on four consecutive days from 11.00 to 22.00 hours.

Fiestas de la Matanza 2010

Tomorrow Mecina Bombarón organizes a Fiesta de la Matanza with an exposition, a tasting of pork delicatessen, and all sorts of other activities (see program).

On Sunday the 5th of December there are two other villages that celebrate ´slaughter festivities´ with ´degustaciones´, namely Turón (see program) and Órgiva (see program).

Mercado de las Artes in Orgiva

This morning a Mercado de las Artes will be inaugarated in Órgiva. Twenty-five art and handicrafts exhibitors are expected on this first art market. From today onwards it will be held on the first Saturday of each month from 10.00 to 14.00 hours on the main square the Plaza de la Alpujarra.
P.S. From April 2011 it will be held on every first Thursday of the month from 10.00 to 15.00 hours. (see article on on alpujarras.eu)

Concentración de kayaks descenso Guadalfeo Órgiva

As we have had a winter with an exceptional amount of precipitations, the water level of the local rivers is at the moment higher than usual. Ideal for those who enjoy whitewater kayaking. On the 24th and 25th of April, a kayak rally descending the river Guadalfeo is organized by Multi Aventura Alpujarra S.L. in Órgiva. People from different parts of Spain will participate, as it is a ´descenso nacional de Aguas Bravas´. A couple of years ago, a national competition was held on the same stretch of the river that is considered quite challenging. The programme of the ´I concentración de kayaks descenso Guadalfeo´ can be found on the website of this company that offers a wide range of outdoor activities. During the San Marcos weekend they also organize many other activities.

This Feria del Turismo, Artesanía y Alimentación ´Hecho en la Alpujarra´ 2010, is a an exhibitition of tourism, crafts and local products that can be visited on four consecutive days from 11.00 to 21.00 hours.
No official announcements are yet to be found on the Internet, so we checked with the town hall and got the confirmation that it will be organized again this year.
